t Want to make a short film in Kingston? Want us to give you the money to do it, plus some industry insider help? This exciting 2009 initiative will award $5,000 cash and provide industry mentorships for the production of a short film in Kingston. The produced film will premiere at the festival’s 10th anniversary in 2010.The winning filmmaker or filmmaking team will receive mentoring from filmmaker Audrey Cummings. A graduate of Queen’s University, Cummings has written and directed several award-winning short films including A Stolen Moment and The Battle for Arthur, which have played at festivals worldwide including Vancouver, Seattle, Korea, Austria, Montreal and Kingston. Cummings just finished shooting her latest short Les jeux d’enfants, which she wrote, directed and co-produced. She also recently won the 2007 Kodak New Mentorship Award for up-and-coming female Canadian director, and is currently in development for her first feature film Perfecting Chaos.
