Get Your Music on TheSixtyOne: Interactive Music Site With Incentives To Discover New Music

I've been using The Sixty One for a about a month now. I've created a listening account and a few for my music projects/bands. As a user I discovered 100's of good songs by artist I never heard of. Thesixtyone gives incentives to users to listen to new music by giving quests to earn points and hearts.

On thesixtyone, artists sell their music directly to their fans. artists on thesixtyone make at least $7 per album and are paid every 30 days -- no wait for recoupment and no complex royalty schemes!

As an artist you get some good feedback on your songs and it's more interactive than other music sites. It's a good idea to have both an artist and user profile because you can't heart songs or create playlists with an artist account.

Users are given a limited number of hearts each day. More points can be earned for identifying good music early or recruiting friends to the service. Members also earn reputation points, and can level up as their reputation grows. The higher level a member achieves, the more hearts he or she can distribute. Reputation points are earned by hearting a song early before it becomes popular. Members also receive a portion of the reputation points earned by their friends

You may also make widgets like this one to promote songs:

I recommend you sign up as a listener first to see how the site works from a users prospective, plus you'll find a lot of cool music.

From the sixtyones Web site:

thesixtyone makes music culture more democratic: artists upload their work for review, but, rather than allow a stuffy suit in a boardroom to decide what's good, thousands of listeners do. The best music automagically bubbles up on our homepage where you can listen to the most popular songs for any genre. It's a quick way to find new music for your iPod powered by pure excitement as opposed to some contrived marketing budget.

Think you've got a good ear? Aside from customizing your experience, creating an account allows you to earn reputation, level up your influence, and collect badges for discovering and recommending good music that others may enjoy. On thesixtyone, tastemaking becomes fun, competitive, and trackable.
