History brings back an old brutal sport with Full Metal Jousting...

I was in Mississippi doing some research on a documentary when I heard History was crewing up for a show that was gonna be shot there.  I figured it was worth looking into and boy was I right!  3 months later we wrapped on one of the most interesting projects I've been a part of.  They took a brutal centuries old sport that was seemingly dead and brought it into today's world thru media by giving it a modern look and channel but kept the brutal part.  Nat Geo had tried something similar with Knights of Mayhem.  Knights of Mayhem has been called the "Jersey Shore of Jousting" which I assume means that its dramatically a reality show.  I did see a couple of episodes and it seemed fun enough but you really could tell something was missing.  History, however, took a much more interesting approach by treating it like a pure sport.  I'm super stoked for this show to air and look forward to a season 2 if it flies.  Which brings me to the question.  What is going to happen if the show takes off and the sport becomes legit?  Is there any other examples of this kind of resurrection that has worked for producers in the past?

I love the highspeed work.  Thank you Matt Drake and Adrian Pruett!  I'm also fond of the black knight who armors up in the beauty shots;)
